Overtime Elite was launched by Overtime, the leading brand for the next generation of sports fans, as a transformative new sports league that offers the world's most talented young basketball players a better pathway to becoming professional athletes.

The Overtime Elite team, which is coached by 13-year NBA veteran Kevin Ollie and NCAA Championship-winning coach (2014) Kevin Ollie, also used the Lions' Den as its practice facility in the days prior to the event as Overtime's media crew filmed and chronicled the team's preparation.

Florida Memorial Associate Athletic Director Strada Joseph said that having an like Source Hoops Miami Summer Hoops Festival and hosting a team like OTE elevates the profile of South Florida's only historically Black university (HBCU).

"When I saw that Source Hoops was preparing to have an event in South Florida, I knew that Florida Memorial University in our Wellness Center would be the perfect place," Joseph began.

"I already had a great working relationship with [SourceHoops.com founder and president] Cory Rollins and we went to work to get this done. In addition, being able to be the primary practice facility for the Overtime Elite team just put everything over the top. OTE features some of the best players in the country and Overtime is an innovative and highly-recognizable media brand and having them here only elevates the Florida Memorial University athletics brand while also pouring back into the Miami Gardens community."

The Miami Summer Hoops Festival will begin Thursday, July 1st and run through Sunday, July 4th. FMU's Wellness Center will serve as the event's headquarters and the venue for Thursday's (July 1) and Friday's (July 2) "premier showcase" games while other games are also set to be played at Miami Monsignor Pace High School and Sports Leadership & Management Academy.
