FMU pours in 5 runs in the 6th inning en route to 10-4 victory over Edward Waters

Lions split doubleheader with Tigers after dropping game one 1-0.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. | Florida Memorial split a non-conference doubleheader after dropping the opener 1-0, then storming back in game two to win 10-4 after scoring five runs in the sixth inning.

The Lions produced three hits while the Tigers had just four, but EWU was able to score the game-winning run in the bottom of the fourth.

FMU pitcher Breana Morales (0-1) got the nod on the mound and pitched a complete game, striking out three Tigers batters while allowing just four hits and one earned run.


Gm. 2 - FMU 10 - Edward Waters 4

FMU scored two runs in the first inning inn a back-and-forth contest. While trailing by two runs in the bottom of the fifth, Edward Waters tied the game 3-3 before the Lions exploded for five runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Florida Memorial first baseman Trinity Hobley finished with team-high 3-RBI and added two hits to go along with one run while teammate Ciera Taylor generated a game-high three runs and one RBI in the victory.

Lions pitcher Gabriela Pinto (2-0) pitched a complete game and allowed just one earned run and four hits while striking out three Tigers batters.

The defeat snaps a four-game win streak for the Eagles (12-2), who only lost for the second time this year.

FMU returns to action on Friday, March 3 as they stay in Jacksonville to face Trinity Baptist in a doubleheader.
