VIERA, Fla. | Florida Memorial split a doubleheader at the Space Coast Complex, defeating Oakland City 7-2 in game one, then falling to Goshen 5-4 in eight innings in game two.

FMU poured in three runs in the opening stanza and never looked back as center fielder
Ciara Justice generated an inside the park home run, bringing home both
Breanna Reyes and
Ciera Taylor.
In the third inning, freshman
Leneaya Silva produced a two-RBI double down the left field line to score teammates
Mariana Gongora and
Ciara Justice, extending FMU's lead to 5-0. Taylor later generated an RBI-double to left center which allowed
Kayla Jade Morales to touch home plate.
Lions pitcher
Emma Silva earned the victory as she struck out one batter and allowed just two earned runs in FMU's 10th win of the season.

FMU took a one-run lead in the third inning when short stop
Heidy Olivo hit an RBI-ground out that scored
Kayla Jade Morales.
In the fifth inning,
Ciera Taylor produced a sacrifice-fly-RBI that brought home
Kylie Enrique, giving the Lions a 2-0 lead. However, the Maple Leafs countered with two runs in the bottom stanza, tying the game 2-2.
In extra innings, FMU gained a two-run advantage when
Breanna Reyes produced an RBI-ground out that allowed Taylor to touch home plate.
Ciara Justice followed suit by generating an RBI-ground out, scoring
Heidy Olivo to put the Lions in prime position to end the low-scoring affair. However, Goshen responded with three-runs, including a two-out two-RBI walk-off as a result of an FMU error, ending the contest in heartbreaking fashion
The Lions return to action on Sunday, March 3 as they travel to Alabama to face Talladega in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
