YPSILANTI, Mich. – The 2025 Nfinity NAIA Competitive Cheer National Championship, held at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti, Mich., was the site of a historic evening as the top two teams broke the all-time scoring record for the event. St. Ambrose (Iowa) won its third-straight Red Banner, the most in NAIA Competitive Cheer history.
Finals Performance Highlights
- St. Ambrose (Iowa) shattered the previous point total, setting the new record of 97.95.
- Runners-up Xavier (La.) also bested the previous mark and recorded the second-best result in event history at 97.39.
- In total, five teams were above the 90-point threshold.
- Dickinson State (N.D.) received the third-place trophy, totaling 96.38 points.
- Saint Mary (Kan.), in only their second appearance at the national championship, takes the fourth-place trophy back to Leavenworth.
- In their final performance in program history, the Cardinals of Concordia (Mich.) moved from 15th to 11th place.
- Cumberlands (Ky.), Concordia (Mich.) Georgetown (Ky.), Indiana Wesleyan, Missouri Valley, Northwestern (Iowa), Saint Mary (Kan.), St. Ambrose (Iowa), Tennessee Southern, and Xavier (La.) did not receive any deductions.
- Concordia (Mich.), Indiana Wesleyan, Missouri Valley, Oklahoma City, and St. Ambrose (Iowa) have qualified for the championship each season the NAIA has hosted the competition.
- All 15 teams in the 2025 event have qualified previously, including 13 repeat qualifiers from the 2024 championship.
- Five teams in the field have raised a Red Banner, led by St. Ambrose with three, followed by Oklahoma City with two.
- After competing on Friday evening for 25 percent of their total score, the teams returned on Saturday to perform again.
- They performed in reverse order of their preliminary scores as those with the lowest Friday score performed first, while the top score from the first round went last.
