MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial Univerisy showed determination and effort in its matchup with Webber International, recording 104 total yards on 39 plays and eight first downs in the contest. While the Lions faced challenges offensively, the game provided several bright spots and valuable experience for the team.
Freshman,
Jada Grant led the receiving unit with six receptions for 53 yards, consistently moving the chains for FMU. Freshman,
Jayda Simmons also made an impact through the air with two catches for 35 yards, including the Lions' longest reception of the game at 28 yards.
On the ground, Sophomore,
Marcelina Luke paced the rushing attack with 10 yards on five carries, while multiple players contributed to the Lions' balanced offensive effort.
Grant also played a key role on special teams, punting six times for 174 yards and averaging 29 yards per punt, helping FMU manage field position throughout the game.
Although Webber International produced strong numbers through the air, FMU continued to compete throughout the game and showed flashes of offensive potential. With several players contributing across offense and special teams, the Lions gained valuable experience that can help the team build momentum moving forward.
The Lions return to action Thursday, March 19, when they'll take on Point University. Kickoff is slated for 3:30 p.m. in West Point, Ga
