Donald Heaven joined the FMU family as Assistant Track and Field Coach in December of 2021.


As a long-time resident of South Florida, Donald Heaven excelled as an athlete at Miami Carol City Senior High School and also as a professional athlete. His success as a 3-time high school state champion for Shot Put & Discus and as an offensive lineman, earned Mr. Heaven a dual scholarship at Florida State University. During his tenure, he shared team success as a NCAA Football Champion in 1999 and he helped his team win the ACC Conference Championship five times. After college, he earned Rookie Of The Year while playing for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the CFL.  In 2001, Mr. Heaven began his mission to develop and transform the throwing community in South Florida through education and youth empowerment. Since his start, Coach Heaven has coached a multitude student athletes to win many local, regional and state championships. Twelve of his high school state champions have advanced to the collegiate level and one even became an elite player in the National Football League (NFL) for almost 10 years. Coach Heaven has also formed several important coaching relationships throughout the nation to include a variety of Colleges and Universities.  Currently, Coach Heaven is active in the South Florida region as a Shot Put/Discus specialist and football coach. His efforts continue to lead his students to success as they have broken high school and collegiate records. As a dedicated lover of sports, Coach Heaven remains loyal to his students and his mission to help them reach their maximum potential is still his top priority.
