Miguel "Bookie" Nunez joined the FMU family in 2010, before returning as head softball coach
Nunez began his coaching tenure at St. Thomas University, where from 1991-1997, he was the assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator. In 1997, he served as STU's head softball coach, where he led the program to 29 wins and a playoff appearance. From 1997-2004, Nunez was the assistant baseball coach, recruiting coordinator, and assistant softball coach for Nova Southeastern University. In 1998, he served as their interim head softball coach. From 2005-2010, Nunez returned to STU as the assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator.
In 2010, Nunez joined FMU as assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator, where he led the Lions to a top three finish in the SUN Conference. Nunez left FMU in 2015, joining Barry University, where from 2015-2022, he was the assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator. From 2022-2025, Nunez was at St. Petersburg Junior College, where he was the assistant baseball coach/recruiting coordinator.
Nunez primarily works with outfielders and on base running, with his teams having notable success in base stealing. For over 26 years, Nunez has been a loyal member of the American Baseball Coaches Assosiation.
In 1997, Nunez earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at St. Thomas University.
