Florida Memorial Lady Lions were able to hold off Warner University with the help of
Nicole Collins; who led the Lady Lions with 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the field. Warner trailed by 10 points before eventually falling 64-61, on Saturday evening at Health and Sports Center on the campus of Barry University in front of a packed crowd for homecoming game.
In a first half that was relatively unevenly-match, Florida Memorial open the game on a 14-7 run, carrying a 36-30 advantage to intermission. In the second half, Warner quickly found its way back into the game. Coming out of the break as it opened the second half with a run to tie the game up a 40-40. Florida Memorial were able to regroup and by the middle of the second half take control 50-42, but Warner would not back down and went on a run to cut the lead to 3 points. Florida Memorial went on to make big shot and pairs of free throw and held on to win.
Nicole Collins led the Lady Lions with 21 points 6-10 FG shooting (9-13 free throws shooting) and grabbed 15 rebounds.
Diamond Colebrooke poured in 19 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and
Abreona Cabell contributed 7 points off the bench.
Florida Memorial Lady Lions will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, February 17 as they battle St. Thomas University at 6:00pm in TSC action.
