Florida Memorial University Men's Basketball Team got their second win of the season over Johnson & Wales University 87-79; with the win the Lions snap a 14 game losing streak in front of a packed crowd at the Wildcat Center on the campus of Johnson & Wales University.
 
 
Florida Memorial University was able to gain an early lead in the first minutes of play and never looked back, as they led by as many as 12 points and carried a 43-31 advantage to intermission.. The Lions dominated the court, out shooting the Wildcats by 12 points at the close of the first half. The Lions shot 60 % from the field and 83.3% from the three point line, while holding their opponent to 46.6% shooting for the first half of the game.
 
 
In the second half, both team offenses continued to exchange baskets, with FMU leading as much as 14 points, with less than 10 minutes to go, but Johnson & Wales made a run and were able to cut the lead to 4 points; But the Lions came back with a roar and made baskets down the stretch to win the game. Florida Memorial out-shot Johnson & Wales 61.5 to 59.5 percent, while out-rebounding their opponent by a slim 23-21 margin.  The Lions shot 85.7 % from the three point line.
 
Timothy Coleman led the Lions with 27 points 13-19 FG shooting (1-1 free throws shooting). While Aundre Reid poured in 23 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and Samuel Dorismond contributed 23 points and Davonte Byrd chipped in 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds.
 
Florida Memorial Lions will return to the hardwood on Tuesday, February 10, when they travel to Ave Maria University with Tip-off at 7:00pm
