Florida Memorial University baseball team earned its third conference victory of the season, cruising to a 12-5 victory over Ave Maria University on Saturday afternoon at Bowie's Ballpark on the campus Ave Maria. The win move the Lions into 7
th placed and one spot closer into the playoff picture.
Florida Memorial opened the game with three first inning runs to take the lead. Florida Memorial broke the game open in the fourth inning with five runs.
Emilio Marrufo and
Brian Gonzalez accounted for back-to-back doubles to start the inning and give FMU a 4-1 lead. The Lions added six runs on three run home run from
Lance Mansfield; Daniel Morales added the final run of the inning by reaching on an error and scoring on an
Ashton Martinez single.
Florida Memorial's scored three more runs in the seventh inning to extend their advantage to 11-5.
Daniel Morales hit a solo home run in the top of the eighth to give the Lions 12-5 margin. The teams combined for 27 hits in the game.
Lance Mansfield went 2-5 with one home run and accumulating three RBI in the game.

Ian Romano earned his second victory for the season, while Christian Dufresne was charged with the loss.
The Lions will play on Tuesday in a non-conference matchup with Keiser University. Florida Memorial returns to conference play next weekend in a three-game against St. Thomas University.
