Florida Memorial Men's Basketball clicked on all cylinders in the second half to knock off Ave Maria University 80-66 in Sun Conference action on Thursday night at Tom Golisano Field House
on the campus of Ave Maria University in front of a packed crowd. The Lions are now 8-0 in Conference play and 12-4 overall.
Ave Maria opened the game with a 7-0 run, but Florida Memorial responded with an 11-4 run to tie the game at 11-11 all. The teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the half with Ave Maria heading to the break with a 39-33 advantage.
Coming out of the break, The Lions turned up the heat and held Ave Maria scoreless for most of the second half. The Lions slowed the tempo, controlled the clock. Florida Memorial went 19-for-38 from the floor. Florida Memorial out-shot Ave Maria 45 to 34 percent, while out-rebounding their opponent by a 50-31 margin. The Lions shot 31 % from the three point line.
Charlie Nedd-Araujo led the Lions with 24 points and 8 rebounds and
Aaron Bryant had 17 points and 6 rebounds.
Jaelyn Johnson-Coston chipped in 15 points.
Florida Memorial Lions will return to the hardwood on Saturday, January 21 as they host Southeastern University in a battle of the conference top three teams, Tip-off is 4:00pm.
