Florida Memorial Men's Basketball team used a big second half of hot shooting to defeat Edwards Waters College 63-54. With their second straight win, the Lions improve to 3-1 overall.
Florida Memorial's Travis Mitchell scored a season-high 19 points, knocking down 6-of-17 of his attempts, while going 4-11 from the three point line.
In the first half, Edwards Waters College quickly jumped out the gates against Florida Memorial with a pair of baskets and then went on a 14-9 run to put Edwards Waters on top, 29-16, at the 2:39 mark. The teams went into the locker room with Edwards Waters up by 10 points, 31-21.
Coming out of the break, the game adjustment by Coach Maddox seemed to work as the Lions poured on the offense at the start of the second half to take the lead 60-47. With 04:56 to go, Florida Memorial turned up the heat and held Edwards Waters scoreless for most of the second half. The back breaker came when Edward Waters went on a run of their own and cut the Lions lead to 6. Familiar with close game situations, the Lions slowed the tempo, controlled the clock, and scored down the stretch to close out the game and seal the win. The Lions also shot 35 percent from beyond the arc and 12-of-16 from the charity stripe. The Lions also out-rebounded their opponent by a 48-38 margin.
Travis Mitchell led the Lions with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assist.

Davon Williams chipped in 13 points each.
Florida Memorial Lions will travel to Rollins College on November 22, 2017 with tip-off at 2 p.m.
