Florida Memorial University women's basketball team came out attacking early and never looked back on Thursday night as the Lady Lions took away a 72-69 win over Webber International University.
 
Despite Webber International jumping out to an 18-16 lead after the first quarter of play, the Lady Lions were able to rally back in the second quarter. Florida Memorial continued to spread the ball around in the second quarter, outscoring Webber International, 17-13, which gave Florida Memorial a 35-33 advantage at the half.
 
Florida Memorial continued to stretch its lead against Webber International in the third quarter going up as much as 12 points, 56-44, but Webber International made a run and outscored the Lady Lions' 18-12 in the final quarter of play and pulled within one point, 62-61, with just over six minutes remaining in regulation.  Despite a late fourth-quarter run by Webber International, Florida Memorial was able to hold on as they sealed a 72-69 victory.
 
Victoria Jones led the Lady Lions with 21 points and 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals, while Abreona Cabell finished in double-figures, picking up 21 points and 13 boards. Ashley Henry added 14 points, 12 rebounds and two steals. Danielle Bailey also poured in 6 points and 2 steals.
 
The Lady Lions will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 21^st, when they host the Sun Conference Women's Basketball First Round Playoff with tipoff at 7 p.m.
