Florida Memorial Men's baseball team set a season high in runs scored as they defeated Purdue University Northwest 12-6 on Monday afternoon at Harry T. Moore Baseball Field. The Lions bats came alive as they pounded out 12 runs, 11 RBI and10 hits.
After falling behind 1-0 in the second inning, Florida Memorial took a 2-1 lead with two run in the second and took a 3-2 lead with a run in the fourth.
Despite Purdue University Northwest taking a 4-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the inning, Florida Memorial exploded for five runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Florida Memorial tacked on four runs in the eighth inning for good measure to give the Lions a 12-6 victory.
Edgar Aparacio had a nice day on the mound for Florida Memorial, going five innings for the Lions.
Moises Criollo came in as a relief pitcher for the win.
Emilio Marrufo led the way for the Lions going 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI's, while
Lance Mansfield went 1-for-3 with two runs scored.
Sergio Chil also recorded one hit, and scored a pair of runs for the Lions.
Florida Memorial will return to action on Friday March 17, 2017 when they host Ave Maria University for a conference series at 3pm.
