Florida Memorial University men's basketball team came out attacking early and never looked back on Thursday night at FMU Wellness Center, as the Lions came away with a 77-67 win over the College of Coastal Georgia.
Florida Memorial was able to gain an early lead in the first 8 minutes of play and never looked back as they led by as many as 7 points and carried a 34-27 advantage into intermission.
In the second half, both team offenses continued to exchange baskets, with FMU leading by as many as 15 points. With less than 10 minutes to go, Coastal Georgia made a run and was able to cut the lead to 8 points, but the Lions came back with a roar and made baskets down the stretch to win the game. Florida Memorial shot 35.3 % for the game and out-rebounded their opponent by an 46-45 margin. The Lions shot 32.1 % from the three point line.
Omar Outar led the Lions with 19 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.
Davon Williams poured in 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds.
Travis Mitchell contributed 10 points.
The Lions return to the court Saturday night (Jan. 27th) when they host Thomas University for a 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
