The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (2-3) traveled to Edward Waters College (4-1) on Friday night to take on the Tigers.
The Tigers opened up a 6-0 lead to start the game. The Lady Lions
Brianna Battle hit a three-pointer to get the Lions to within one point. But the Tigers of Edward Waters were determined to keep the lead for the first quarter as they scored 24 points. At the end of the first quarter the score was 24-20.
In the second quarter, the Lady Lions roared their way back to tie the score at 30-30. The Tigers and the Lady Lions would fight for every point as the score went back and fourth and the Lady Lions were able to earn a one point advantage over the Tigers, 46-45.
In the third quarter both teams continued to fight and claw for every point as FMU build a 57-52 lead. The Tigers hit key three-pointers and played strong defense and closed out the Lady Lions 71-64. The difference in the third quarter was the Tigers defense as they only allowed the Lady Lions to score 18 points while scoring 26 points.
Both teams played outstanding defense in the fourth quarter as the Lady Lions were only able to score 9 points while the Tigers scored 13. The final score was 71-64 in favor of the Edward Waters College Tigers.
