Lady Lions Tally Key Conference Win Over Keiser University

Florida Memorial University women's basketball team collected its second consecutive Sun Conference win after defeating Keiser University by a final of 59-47 on Thursday night in Sun Conference (TSC) action at the Student Life Center on the campus of Keiser University. The Lady Lions improved to 13-8 overall and 8-5 in the conference.

The Lady Lions raced out to a 6-0 lead to start the game, behind a combination of strong post play and hot shooting from the perimeter. Then, Keiser went on a 6-1 run to pull within one point. The Lady Lions went on to outscore Keiser, 9-4 and held a 16-10 advantage heading into the second quarter. Keiser answered back with a run to close out the half. The teams went to the locker room with Florida Memorial leading 27-22. 

Both teams came out of the locker room with the same pace as the first half. The Lady Lions opened the half on an 8-0 run to lead 35-22, then Keiser went on to outscore FMU 10-5 during the final seven minutes of the third quarter, but continued to trail 40-35. Florida Memorial and Keiser slugged it out over the first five minutes of the fourth quarter.  The Lady Lions ended the game on a 9-2 run to seal a 59-47 win.
Florida Memorial finished the night shooting 32% (19-59) from the floor.  The Lady Lions also finished the night 73.9 % (17-23) from the free-throw line, while forcing 11 turnovers.
 
Ashley Henry finished with a team-high 20 points, while also grabbing 11 rebounds in the win. Abreona Cabell finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Danielle Bailey added 11 points, while grabbing 3 rebounds, and Victoria Jones finished with 9 points.
 
The Lady Lions return to action against Johnson and Wales University in conference action on Saturday at 2pm.
