Florida Memorial University Men's Basketball team defeated Warner University 81-66, in Sun Conference play in front of a packed homecoming crowd in
FMU's Wellness Center. With the win, the Lions improved to 14-9 overall and 8-8 in TSC.
Florida Memorial opened the contest with a 4-0 lead, and then the two teams battled each other in a close contest until Florida Memorial made a run to pull away in the first half. Warner used an 11-0 run to take a 40-37 advantage with 00:45 left in the half. Warner led 42-37 at halftime.
In the second half, it was
Warner, again, that jumped ahead early and led by 6, 45-39, with 17:50 to play. That's when The Lions began to roar back. Davon Williams nailed a Jumper to cut the deficit to four. A few minutes later,
Evens Jacques made three to give FMU a 46-44 lead. Florida Memorial used an 11-0 run to seal an 81-66 win for the Lions.
The Lions shot 25-of-67 from the field (37%), 7-of-11 (31%) from three-point range and 24-of-27(88%) from the free throw line.
Eugene Harvey scored 14 points, grabbed 1 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Omar Outar added 3 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assist.
Davon Williams tallied 12 points and
Evens Jacques netted 11 points.
The Lions return to the court Thursday night (Feb. 15) when they host Southeastern University for a 8:00 p.m. start.
