Lady Lions Sweep Webber International
Florida Memorial Women's Basketball team used full-court pressure to pull away and defeat Webber International 65-50 in conference play at Sabbagh Athletic center on the campus of Webber International University. Florida Memorial picks up their fourteen win of the season to improve to 14-9 and 9-6 in the conference. With the win, Florida Memorial University completes a sweep of Webber International University.
The Lady Lions opened the game with a 7-2 run, but Webber International responded with a 6-3 run, to close the quarter out at 10-8. The teams went back-and-forth for the rest of the half with Florida Memorial heading to the break with a 30-15 advantage.
In the third quarter, Webber International went on a 23-15 run to finish out the quarter to cut the lead to 7 points. In the fourth quarter, Lady Lions opened the fourth-quarter on another run, and were able to seal a 65-50 victory.
The Lady Lions shot 35.0 % from the field and 23.3 % from the three point line, while holding their opponent to 25.0 % shooting. Florida Memorial held Webber International to just 3 for 20 shooting from three-point land and forced 14 turnovers.
Abreona Cabell led the Lady Lions with 18 points, 5-10 FG shooting (8-8 free throw shooting) and grabbed 5 rebounds.
Danielle Bailey poured in 13 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and 2 steals.
Ashley Henry finished in double-figures, picking up 13 points and 16 boards, while
Victoria Jones contributed 12 points.
Florida Memorial will face Warner University 0n Saturday for Homecoming at 4 p.m.
