The Florida Memorial University Lions earned their 20th victory of the season on Monday as they defeated the College of St. Joseph Fighting Saints in game one of the double header. This is the first twenty win season in this century for the Lions.
Brandon Carted started the game for the lions and went 3 ? innings, while striking out two on the day. Carter was relieved by
Chandler Thomas. In Thomas' 3 ? innings of work he struck out four, while giving up no runs.
Kyle Parks earned the historic victory for the Lions, after throwing one inning while striking out one. The hero of the game was Joquiel Perry, as he hit a walk-off double to seal the win for FMU.
In the second game of the double header, the victory fell in the Fighting Saints favor, as they won 4-0. FMU scattered four hits throughout the game, but weren't able to capitalize on them. After giving up four runs in the first innings, the Lions were able to silence their opponents the rest of the game. Joquiel Perry and Derek Abreu combined to throw seven innings and strike out seven on the day.
The Lions are back in action Friday, as they take on in town rival St. Thomas University for a Conference matchup at Paul Demie Mainieri Field. First pitch is set for 6 pm.
