Lady Lions lose to conference leading Southeastern University 89-99.
The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (12-6, 7-2 TSC), coming off of a tough lose to Ave Maria University were looking to get back into the win column against the Southeastern University Fire (16-2, 9-0 TSC) who are currently the top team in The Sun Conference and ranked 5th in the NAIA. The Lady Lions jumped all over the Fire in the first quarter as they scored 28 points on 58% shooting from the filed and 53% shooting from behind the 3-point arc. In the second quarter, the Lady Lions kept pressing the Fire and scored 26 points and took a 54-42 lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Fire exploded for 33 points while the Lady Lions only scored 18. The Fire shot an amazing 66% from the field and 66% from behind the 3-point arc, leading the way for the Fire was Makenzie Cann with five 3-pointers to give the Fire a 3 point lead at the end of three quarters of play. In the fourth quarter the Lady Lions could not hit a single 3-pointer as they shot 0-11. The final score was 89-99 in favor of the Fire. Despite a noticeable height differential, the Lady Lions stayed competitive on the glass grabbing 33 rebounds while the Fire grabbed 42.
