The Florida Memorial University Lions baseball team (0-1) opened up the 2019 regular season on the road against St. Thomas University (2-0) on Tuesday night.
On a cool night, the bats were hot, as both teams jumped all over the pitchers and were aggressive at the plate with STU having 12 hits and FMU having 10 hits. The final score was 4-10 in favor of the Bobcats of St. Thomas University.

Jouseph Renovales with a double, but was left stranded as the Bobcats retired the next three batters. In the bottom of the first inning, St. Thomas drew first blood as they scored one run on two hits. The Lions came up to bat in the top of the second inning and
Raymond Guerrero got on base with a line drive to center field. Following Guerrero was D.J. Brown who smashed the ball over the left field wall scoring two runs. Later in that inning,
Pablo Delgado reached base with a single to right field, Delgado scored on
Jouseph Renovales' triple to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. The Bobcats scored one more run in the bottom of the second inning to make it 3-2 in favor of the Lions.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Bobcats scored three runs on four hits to take the lead 3-5. The Bobcats would score one more run in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a commanding 3-6 lead. In the top of the fifth inning, the Lions sent D.J. Brown to the plate and he delivered a towering shot over the left field wall for his second home run of the night. Brown finished the night 2 for 4 with 3 RBI.
Things did not go well for the Lions as the Bobcats scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to make the score 4-10 and that proved to be the final score as the Bobcats defeated the Lions.
Leading the way for the Lions was left fielder,
Jouseph Renovales with a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, but he reached base safely in all four of his at bats, going 3 for 4 with a single, double, triple, and a walk.
Christian Delgado suffered the loss with 4 innings pitched, surrendering 5 runs on 8 hits, walking 2 and striking out 2 batters.
Raymond Guerrero made two spectacular diving catches in center field for the Lions.
