Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Unbelievable Courage Displayed In Loss To Southeastern

(LAKELAND, Fla.) -- Despite the score the Florida Memorial University women's soccer team played an amazing game in the 0-7 loss to Southeastern University, Monday, October 21.

"The girl's showed unbelievable courage and will," said Coach Anna Maliszewska. "Even though we played two players down we showed the Lakeland people that Lions roar and we roar loud."

Starting the match with a goal within the first :41 seconds, the Fire set the tone for how the first half of the match would go.

Five more Southeastern goals gave them a 6-0 lead heading into to the half.

Sophomore Laura Reina moved into the goalie position and made a huge difference for the Lions throughout the rest of the game.

"The second half was played very smart," explained Coach Maliszewska. "We let them score only one goal and we also took many shots on their goal.

Overall the Fire took 24 shots while the Lions finished with seven.

Coach Maliszewska said she is proud of the team and knows that they still believe in the program and because of that they will make changes and make history.

Their next match will take place at Warner University, Wednesday, October 23 at 7P.M.
