(AVE MARIA, Fla.) -- Nearing the end of their season, the women's soccer team fell in a 1-5 contest to Ave Maria University, Wednesday, October 30.
Another tough loss for the Lions dropped their overall season record to 0-16. The Gyrenes quickly got the game started on offense scoring the first goal of the match at the 4:14 mark.
Almost 13 minutes later Ave would take a 2-0 lead ove Florida Memorial. Never one to give up, the Lions would score their first goal in over 10 games when sophomore
Thalita Azevedo got one past the goalie at 30 minutes and four seconds into the match.
The home team would put another goal in the left corner of the net a minute before the half to take a 3-1 lead before the break.
FMU collected seven saves in the first half which came in handy against AMU's 14 shots.
The Gyrenes would score two more goals in the second half but the Lions defense kept them to just six shots this time around.
Florida Memorial finished the game with six shots total and eight saves by sophomore goalie
Laura Reina.
Azevedo finished with six of the Lions' shots while sophomores
Emerita Garcia and
Garcy Momplaisir both had one.
Their final game of the season will be played on the road against Palm Beach University, Friday, November 1.
