MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Florida Memorial women's volleyball team swept the Brewton-Parker Barons Friday in a non-conference match at Gillis Gymnasium.
The Lions took the first set 25-18 and followed with a 25-11 win in the second set. FMU clinched the match with a 25-13 win in the final frame.
Rachele Mancinelli led the Lions offense, recording 10 kills on 19 swings.
Sammyra Albarran followed with six kills, while
Daphinie Correa added four. All three players hit over .300 in the match: (Mancinelli - .368 | 10-3-19; Albarran - .333 | 6-2-12; Correa - .375 | 4-1-8).
Francheska Rivera and
Alanis Santana paced the Lions offense by dishing out 11 and 10 assists, respectively.
Keisha Santana led the backcourt defense for Florida Memorial, posting a match-high 16 digs.
Yulianna Charris added five and
Biancaliz Cruz recorded four on the day.
Florida Memorial recorded 10 service aces. Rivera led the way with three, while Mancinelli added two.
FMU is back in action Saturday at 2 p.m. ET as they head to Coastal Georgia for a pivotal Sun Conference match. The Mariners edged the Lions 3-2 in their previous matchup this season on Sept. 28.
