MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – On a night where five different Florida Memorial University players scored in double figures, the Lions had one of their worst shooting nights of the season en route to a 81-73 loss to visiting Voorhees College Saturday night in the FMU Wellness Center.
FMU (2-6) attempted 25 three-pointers Saturday, but made just one – a
Jordan Martin first-half connection from beyond the arc – for a paltry 4 percent shooting from long range. The icy shooting was compounded by Florida Memorial, which will travel to face Barry University (Fla.) Wednesday, committing 20 turnovers as the Lions fell into a 42-31 halftime hole.
Omar Outar led Florida Memorial with 15 points Saturday.
Cheikh Kebe added 14 points – including a pair of thunderous dunks – and eight rebounds. 7-foot junior
Mubashar Ali had a 14-point, 17-board, double-double, but fouled out midway through the second half as Voorhees (5-4) opened up as large as a 19-point lead.
The "Jordan's" combined for 23 points -
Jordan Martin finishing with 13 points and
Jordan Johnson adding 10 off the bench.
