The Florida Memorial University basketball Lions (5-25, 3-15 TSC) took on Ave Maria University (20-8, 13-5 TSC) at the FMU Wellness Center on Saturday night.
The Lions suffered a loss while playing a game dedicated to honor the seniors and Home Coming. This was the final game of the 2018-2019 campaign as the Lions have officially been eliminated from post-season play. The final score in this game was 65-96 in favor of the Gyrenes.
Senior
Eugene Harvey, playing in the final game of his career, led the Lions in scoring with 20 points on 8-11 from the field, 1-2 from 3-point range, and 3-4 from the free-throw line. The Lions were out rebounded in this game by the Gyrenes, 25-42 and forced the Lions into 12 turn overs resulting in 14 points. The Lions were down by 26 points at the half, only scoring 21 points. In the second half, the Lions made some adjustments and scored 44 points but could not play defense as they allowed the Gyrenes to score 49 points.
For the Lions, Jordan martin scored 14 points and William Phleps scored 11. The seniors that were honored in today's game were
Eugene Harvey, Charlie Nedd-Araujo, and Jonas Perkins. These seniors played their last game a Lions at FMU.
