The Lady Lions of Florida Memorial University (17-12, 10-8 TSC) took on the Gyrenes of Ave Maria University (21-8, 11-7 TSC) at the FMU Wellness Center on Saturday night for Home Coming.
Despite only scoring 12 points in the second quarter, the Lady Lions played aggressively throughout the game. In only her second game back since injuring her ankle,
Brianna Battle scored 13 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and had 4 assists.
Kanesha Battle scored 26 points, shooting 9-20 from the field and 4-8 from 3-point range.
Tyesha Battle had 11 points 2 assists and 3 steals.
Anjelie Tirone had 10 points and 6 rebounds.
With just over three minutes to play in the game, the Lady Lions were down by 6 points. The combination of Brianna and
Kanesha Battle would get the lead for the Lady Lions with 24 seconds to play. Brittany Howard would secure 2 steals on the last two Gyrenes' processions thus ending any possible come back. The Lady Lions won the game the score, 74-71.
The Lady Lions have earned the 5th seed in The Sun Conference and will take on Ave Maria, on Tuesday, Feb. 9th at Ave Maria for the first round of the tournament.
