Lady Lions Lose Semi-Final Game

The Florida Memorial University Lady Lions (18-13, 10-8 TSC) traveled to Lakeland, FL to take on conference leading Southeastern University (26-2, 18-0 TSC) in the semi-final match-up of The Sun Conference Tournament.

The Southeastern Fire are currently ranked 3rd in the nation and are undefeated in conference play. The Lady Lions gave the Fire all they could handle for 2 and a half quarters of play. The Lady Lions defense suffocated the Fire during the first quarter as they held the Fire to only 7 points. However, the Lady Lions only scored 7 points themselves. In the second quarter, the Lady Lions erupted for 26 points. The Fire took the lead early in the second quarter but the Lady Lions were able to tie the score at 25-25 and eventually take a 1 point lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Lady Lions held a 3 point lead early on but the Fire would use a 13-0 point run to pull away from the Lions and close out the third quarter with an 8 point lead, 43-51. In the fourth quarter, the Fire were too much for the Lady Lions to handle as they built an 18 point lead and eventually capture the victory 60-76. Leading the way for the Lady Lions in this game were Brianna Battle with 15 points and 6 rebounds, and Kanesha Battle with a double-double, 29 points and 13 rebounds.

The loss officially ends the Lady Lions season. The Lady Lions finished the season ranked in 2nd in the nation in 3-pointers made per game (12.2), 2nd in the nation in total 3-pointers made (380), and 3rd in total scoring offense (2528).
