Women's Volleyball Set School Record In Win Over Webber

(MIAMI GARDEN, FLA) -- Volleyball at Florida Memorial University continues to set new standards as the team defeated Webber International University 3-0, Saturday, September 21. 

Today's win puts the Lions on a seven-game win streak which is a new program record. Now 4-0 in the conference, Florida Memorial has tied it's previous record for the most conference wins in school history. 

The Lions took a 4-0 lead over the Warriors to start the first set. They held the lead for the whole set and led by as much as 14 points, holding a 21-7 lead over Webber. 

The Warriors fought back to score another five points before the Lions captured the win 25-12.

Multiple errors by the home team in the second set allowed the Warriors to take the lead several occasions. There were six lead changes in the game where the highest margin was a 24-20 lead by the Lions. 

Webber was once again given an opportunity to steal a set from Florida Memorial as the Lions produced many hitting and service errors. Unable to make the proper adjustments on their offense, the Warriors fell 25-23 to the host to end the match. 

Junior Daphinie Correa finished the match with a game-high 13 kills. She now has 127 kills for the season, which sits her in first for the Lions. Junior Sammyra Albarran added nine kills while senior Ivana Maric contributed eight. 

Defensive specialist Keisha Santana finished with double-digits in digs with 10. The junior now has a season total of 229. Classmate Francheska Rivera dished out 20 assists and collected three digs. 

Sophomore Rachele Mancinelli finished with four service aces and tied for a team-high two blocks with Maric and freshman Biancaliz Cruz

The Lions will travel to Warner University, Wednesday, September 25 for a 7 P.M. start.
