AVE MARIA, Fla. – Falling into an early, multi-goal deficit proved too much for Florida Memorial University's women' soccer team to overcome as the Lady Lions fell 7-1 to Ave Maria University in their season-opener Saturday at Gyrenes Field.
FMU, which had the start date of its 2020 regular pushed back after having its original season opener against Florida College cancelled, trailed 3-0 at halftime but cut into that deficit early in the second half when junior
Abbie Watson scored her – and the team's – first goal of the season (on a
Brenda Angon assist).
The Lions will have an entire week to put Saturday's loss behind them and prepare for their September 26th road meeting with Sun Conference rival Keiser University.
