Lions volleyball takes care of business on road with crucial 3-0 sweep over Webber

BABSON PARK, Fla. | Florida Memorial took care of business on the road with a 3-0 sweep over Webber International (28-26, 26-24, 25-20) at the Sabbagh Athletic Center. FMU, winner of five of its last six matches, are playing great volleyball heading into the final stretch of conference play.

In set one, FMU and Webber went back and forth before the Warriors took a late 22-19 lead after an attacking error from Kimberlie Correa. However, the Lions roared back on a 4-1 run to tie the game at 23 apiece before eventually ending the set on a 9-4 run to win 28-26 in thrilling fashion. FMU was led by outside hitter Caroline Souza, who finished with a game-high 15 kills while Correa and Rafaela Nogueira added nine kills each.

Set two proved to be a carbon copy of set one as FMU trailed 18-20 late in the set before storming back to score four-straight unanswered points, taking a 22-20 lead. The Lions would go on to win another thrilling set by just two points on a C. Souza ace. FMU took full advantage of free points once again as Souza finished with two aces while teammate Agustina Busque produced three aces and total 33 assists, both game-highs.

By set three, the Lions took the life out of the Warriors with consistent play on both ends of the floor. Webber could not stop FMU's relentless attacks and took an early 10-3 lead, never looking back en route to a 25-20 victory.

On the defensive end, Souza and Mar Danes both generated 16 digs each while Olivia Dodd chipped in with seven.
The Lions have won 5 of its last 6 games in Sun Conference play.

The Lions take a break from conference play and return to action on Friday, October 28 as they travel to Hialeah to face Florida National. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
