MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial scored over 100 points for the second straight night, this time crushing its opponent Carlow by the score of 104-66 at the FMU Wellness Center. The win marks the second straight victory for the defending Sun Conference Champions.
FMU (2-0) exploded to a 53-36 lead at halftime behind an offense that produced five scorers in double-figures. Tariq Humes led the Lions with 19 points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds while fellow Lion Carm'Ron Wilson generated 16 points, four boards and four steals in 22 minutes. Humes and Wilson combined for seven of the team's 12 three-pointers.
As a team, the Lions shot 44 percent from the field, connecting on 37-of-84 attempts while Carlow shot 40 percent, hitting 22-of-55 shots.
Defensively, the Lions clamped down on its opponent all night, forcing 33 turnovers which resulted in 33 points for FMU.
Teonta McKeithen, Tavin Pierre-Philipp and Christain Taylor added major contributions to Florida Memorial's offense, scoring 13, 12 and 11 points respectively. The defending Sun Conference champions improve to 2-0 and is on the verge of receiving votes for the NAIA top-25.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, November 3 as they host Fort Lauderdale. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
