WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial took care of business in game one of the SUN/SSAC Crossover Challenge with an 82-71 victory over Brewton-Parker at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center. Overall, the Lions produced five scorers in double-figures in the win.
FMU (8-6, 1-4) led by 10 points at halftime behind guards
Rod Boggan and
Miles-Jordan Smartt, who both finished with 15 points apiece. Despite losing the rebound battle 48-39, the Lions were extremely efficient on the offensive end, hitting nearly 60 percent of their shots from the floor (18-of-31) in the first half. Overall, Florida Memorial shot just above 50 percent for the game.
Boggan buried all four of his 3-point attempts while Smartt connected on 7-of-10 field goals.
Cam'Ron Wilson was also impressive from the floor, hitting 5-of-7 field goals, including 2-of-3 from downtown as he finished with 14 points and eight boards. Teammate
Tavin Pierre-Philippe filled the stat sheet, generating 14 points, three rebounds, three assists and three steals for the Lions.

Tariq Humes added 13 points in the victory, which lifts the Lions to 8-6 on the season.
Florida Memorial returns to action on Saturday, December 31 as they face William Carey in game two of the Crossover Challenge. Tip-off is set for 12 noon in West Palm Beach, Fla.
