LAKE WALES, Fla. | Florida Memorial erased a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to force overtime, eventually winning 82-76 against Warner at the Turner Athletic Center. The win is the seventh straight victory for the first place FMU Lions, who improve to 9-1 in conference play and remain atop of the Sun Conference Women's Basketball standings.
Three FMU players combined for 68 points;
Aliyah-Deen Ahmad scored 25 points and hit 8-of-12 from the charity stripe while
Tianna Ayulo scored 22 points and grabbed seven boards in the victory.
Chantel Barnett produced 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field.
FMU trailed by just two points at the break, but scored only seven points in the third quarter before dropping 24 points in the final quarter to force overtime.
As a team, the Lions were outrebounded by 10, but stingy defense generated 13 steals as the Lions scored 24 points off of 27 Royals turnovers.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, February 2 as they host the College of Coastal Georgia. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
