Florida Memorial dominates Warner 3-1 in SUN conference contest

Win snaps three-game skid for the Lions.

Lake Wales, Fla. | The FMU Lions earned their fourth win of the season with a dominating 3-1 performance over Warner.

The intense battle included four goals, four yellow cards and 30 fouls between the two SUN squads.

FMU allowed an early goal in the tenth minute of the contest when Warner's Deven Ingley scored a header from a cross. However, The Lions responded in the 25th minute as Brad Tulley dribbled past two defenders in the penalty area, dropped his shoulder to beat third defender, then fired a low shot past the Royal goalkeeper in sensational fashion.

The Lions kept their foot on the gas, moving down the field. Moments before the break, Geovannie Lake found the back of the net and scored the eventual match-winner for the Lions after getting a masterful assist from Tulley with just eleven seconds remaining in the first half. The Lions headed into the break with a one-goal lead.

Florida Memorial came out after the break to extend their lead in the 55th minute when Jeremiah Johnson found Lake for his second goal of the match with a perfect header to make it 3-1. The Royals were unable to respond as FMU snapped a three-game skid.

The Lions outshot the Royals 20 to three, ten of which were on frame.

FMU goalkeeper Batony Ilyes finished with one save and allowed  one goal in the victory.

Florida Memorial returns to action on Wednesday, October 11 as they host Ave Maria. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Dr. Lester Brown Park.
