FMU sweeps SSAC/SUN Challenge with 77-72 win over Brewton Parker

Win marks third in a row for the red hot Lions.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Delano Thomas era has been a successful campaign thus far, as Florida Memorial won its third straight contest with a 77-72 victory over Brewton Parker at the Crampton Bowl to sweep both opponents in the SSAC/SUN Challenge.

With four scorers in double figures, the Lions cruised to a 12-point lead at halftime thanks to aggressive play on the offense end. FMU finished 9-of-11 from the charity stripe in the opening half and took advantage from the foul line.

FMU (3-0) guard Evan Busby produced 10 points in the first half while shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. In addition, teammate Raheem Carter generated nine of his team-high 15 points and six boards in an impressive opening half for the Lions, who improve to 3-0 on the season.

Carter and Busby finished with 15 and 14 points respectively, while fellow Lion Felix Uadiale produced a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the victory.

Post player Latavious Mitchell had another solid output as he filled the stat sheet with eight points, 14 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal in 16 minutes of action.

FMU returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 11 as they host Penn State Greater Allegheny. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
