MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial exploded for six runs in the seventh inning, but it wasn't enough as they fell to #25 Keiser 13-9 at the Harry T. Moore Baseball Field.
Both teams were held scoreless until the fourth inning when the Seahawks poured in four runs. The Lions answered in the bottom stanza with two runs when
Jalen Young produced an RBI-double to center field that scored
Gabriel Marinez. Moments later,
Luis Ruiz generated an RBI single that brought home Young.
The Seahawks responded with two additional runs in the top of the fifth and then added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning, and that's why then Lions responded with six runs in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to 9-8.
Keiser once again responded with five runs in the top of the eighth inning to seal the deal.
Ruiz finished with a team-high three RBI and tied a game-high with two hits. FMU used a total of eight pitchers, but ultimately it was
Juan Raul Hernandez (0-1) that was charged with the loss after giving up two earned runs and walking two batters. Starting pitcher
Aubrey Yarbrough pitched a total of three innings, striking out five Seahawks batters as he allowed zero runs before being replaced by Hernandez, who was put in a difficult position.
The Lions return to action on Saturday, March 4 as they host Judson in a double-header. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.
