HARDEEVILLE, S.C. | Florida Memorial University did the improbable, defeating a tough SCAD team 5-3 on the road in the season finale in a must-win situation, clinching a spot in next week's SUN Conference Tournament.

Johan Arevalo wasted no time giving FMU an early 1-0 lead in the fifth minute of the match with a go-ahead goal. Later in the half, the the Lions took a strong 2-0 lead with a goal from graduate student
Adam Gonzalez in the 29th minute.
Minutes later, the Bees finally got on board with a goal from the spot (penalty kick) which cut the lead to one goal at the break.
In the second half, FMU midfielder
Juan Rizo scored a goal in the 64th minute to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. In the 72nd minute, Gonzalez added an insurance goal for the Lions before SCAD responded with two quick goals to bring the score to 4-3.
