ADRIAN, Mich. | The Florida Memorial University women's basketball team won their sixth straight contest, this time with an impressive 69-60 victory over No. 15 Marian (Ind.).
After getting outscored 19-9 in the third quarter, the Lions stormed back to outscore their opponent 19-15 in the final quarter, pulling away with a crucial road victory.
FMU was led by
Makayla Transou who finished with a team-high 17 points, burying 3-of-5 three-pointers while connecting on all six free throw attempts. Transou also grabbed five boards while teammate
Agar Farres Garcia produced 13 points and nine rebounds in the victory.
As a team, Florida Memorial University capitalized on Marian's mistakes, scoring 32 points off of 26 Knights turnovers.
The win moves FMU to 10-1 on the year and are on the verge of receiving NAIA Top-25 votes as they head to the 2025 portion of their schedule.
The Lions return to conference play on Saturday, January 4 as they host Ave Maria. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
