MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial's softball team swept Webber in a doubleheader, earning victories of 9-1 in 5 innings before holding on for a thrilling 2-1 win at Walt Frazier Park at Carol City. The senior day victories secured FMU's first postseason berth in program history.

FMU took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning when lone senior
Bryanna Curry generated a two-RBI single to left field that scored both
Kayla Jade Morales and
Kylie Enrique.
In the bottom of the third inning, third baseman
Mariana Gongora produced an RBI-single that brought home catcher
Ciera Taylor, giving the Lions a 3-0 lead.
The Lions went on to outscore Webber 6-1 in the next two innings, scoring three runs in both the fourth and fifth, ending the contest early due to the run rule.

Emma Silva (8-4) was credited with the win, striking out two batters while allowing just one earned run in the victory.

The Warriors took an early lead in the top of the first inning before the Lions responded immediately in the bottom stanza when Justice produced an RBI-double to left center that brought home the speedster
Bryanna Curry, bringing the score to 1-1.
With the team on the brink of making its first-ever postseason berth, Taylor made a big play in the fifth inning, hitting the ball to the outfield which allowed
Aashana Francis to round third base and touch home plate for the game-winning run.

Breana Morales (4-2) was credited with the win, allowing just one earned run while striking out one batter in the crucial victory. The sophomore pitcher showed poise throughout the contest, earning a complete game.
FMU will return to action on Thursday, May 2 as they face Keiser in the quarterfinal round of the 2024 SUN Softball Tournament. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
