MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | 21 seniors were honored for Senior Day for the Florida Memorial University football team. Celebrations started early, but continued throughout the game, as the Lions put together another phenomenal performance, defeating Webber International 42-19 at Betty T. Ferguson Stadium.
FMU put up 363 yards of total offense. Defending NAIA Offensive Player of the Week
Tedric Wilcox went 7-of-8 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Senior
Tyquan Wiggins got involved as well, throwing for 60 yards. The rushing attack was spread out throughout the game, with running back
Jerodd Sims leading in scoring with two touchdowns and
Nygel Osborne adding a score as well. Sims even added a touchdown in the air, alongside teammate Godson Sinlien.
Arabia Bradford led in recieving yards, with 66 on three catches.
Senior
Darius Stokes led the team in tackles with nine on the day, including one tackle for loss, a forced fumble, one pass break up and an interception. Freshman
Fernando Jeanty recorded FMU's lone sack of the day, adding four total tackles, and two tackles for a loss in the process. On special teams kicker
Sean Egloff went a perfect 6-of-6 on PATs.
The win advances FMU to 4-4 on the year and 4-1 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Saturday, November 8, when they'll travel to Ave Maria to take on the Gyrenes. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
