WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. | Florida Memorial University was eliminated from the 2024-25 SUN Conference Men's Baksetball Tournamet as they fell 81-70 to Ave Maria in the semifinal round.
The first half proved to be a back-and-forth affair as FMU trailed by just one point at the break. However, it allowed nearly 50 second-half points in the elimination game. The Lions were led by graduate student
Felix Uadiale who finished with a team-high 23 points and shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the field to go along with five rebounds and one assist while teammate
Terrin Hamilton generated 16 points on 3-of-7 from behind the arc. He also grabbed six boards, produced two assists, two blocks and one steal.
2024-25 SUN Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year
Latavious Mitchell produced a double-double, scoring 10 points while grabbing 18 rebounds as he shot a perfect 4-for-4 from the charity stripe. The first-team all-conference honoree added three assists and one block in the loss.
As a team, the Lions were held to just 40 percent shooting from the field (25-of-62) while Ave Maria shot nearly 50 percent (29-of-60).
Florida Memorial University dominated the glass 43-28, as its bench outscored the Gyrenes' bench 32-15.
