SARASOTA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University defeated New College of Florida 10-9 and 17-13 for the doubleheader sweep and series victory. The Lions and Banyans were engaged in a back-and-forth for both games, but FMU rose to the top and never looked back to give them three straight wins on the road.
Freshman
Damarion Butler led the team in runs with four, while left fielder
Don McKnight III led the team in hits with five, along with three runs. Right fielder
Armando Ramirez added six RBIs on the day, leading the team.
Jesus Ramos (2-1), got the win in game one, allowing five hits and three earned runs while striking out two Banyans. In game two,
Jamal Johnson (6-2) earned his second win of the series, allowing one hit and one walk.
The wins move FMU to 19-21 on the year and 6-14 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Thursday, April 16, for the first game of the series against Ave Maria. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. in Ave Maria, Fla.
