MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University fell to RV Keiser 7-6 in the series opener at Harry T. Moore Baseball Field. The Lions were up 6-5 in the top of the eighth, but allowed two runs in the inning and couldn't find the extra runs to retake the lead, handing FMU the loss. Despite the loss, the Lions showed a lot of fight against Keiser, outhitting the Seahawks 12-10 across the nine innings.
Senior
Jamal Johnson started on the mound for FMU. In seven innings, he allowed six hits and one earned run while striking out six Seahawks. Junior
Esteban Jogins, (4-4), suffered the loss, allowing three hits and two earned runs, while striking out two Seahawks in two innings.
Graduate student,
Pheron Charlton led the team in runs with three, and went 3-of-4 at bat, alongside senior
Justin Martinez. Teammates
Daniel Lopez and
Don McKnight III co-led the team in RBIs with two apiece.
The loss drops FMU to 21-24 on the year and 8-17 in conference play.
