NAIA Eligibility Requirements

Florida Memorial University is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). In order to be eligible to participate in intercollegiate athletics at FMU, you must meet the respective requirement as a student entering the institution:


Entering Freshman
If you graduate from a U.S. HS after the Spring and look to enroll at our institution for the Fall 2024 Academic Term, you must:

  • Graduate from an accredited high school
  • Graduate with a 2.30+ GPA or meet two of the three following requirements listed below
    1. Achieve a minimum of ACT - 18 or SAT - 970.
    2. Achieve a minimum overall high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale,
    3. Graduate in the top half of your high school class
  • Document Submission


International Freshman (Additional Requirements)

  • Must provide academic records in English and Native Language (if applicable) to InCred for transcript evaluation.
  • InCred Basic HS Evaluation Cost - $95

 

Entering Transfers
If you transfer from a U.S. two- or four-year institution after the Spring 2024 term and look to enroll at our institution for the Fall 2024 Academic Term, you must:

  • Submit official transcripts from all previous institutions attended (with most recent academic term completed).
  • Written Release
    • Four-Year - Must have documentation from athletic department at most recent institution
      • NCAA D-I /D-II - Automated E-Mail from Transfer Portal
      • NAIA - Official Release (PDF) from previous NAIA institution
    • Two-Year -
      • Only attended two-year - No release needed;
      • Attended four-year prior to two-year year inst. - Must have release from last four-year institution attended
  • Transfer with a 2.00+ GPA from all previous colleges combined
  • Document Submission
    • Two- and/or Four-Year Transcripts - Must request through each previous institution's transcript request process.  Check with each respective institution's University Registrar for process and instructions.
  • 24/36 Hour Rule
    • Transfer students are required to have completed 24 semester hours of institutional credit in their last two semesters of full-time enrollment prior to transferring.
  • Progress Rule
    • Transfer students who have already used one or more of their four seasons of competition in intercollegiate sports, must show successful completion of the following total cumulative credit hours prior to competing in their second, third, or fourth season:
      • Prior to 2nd - 24 semester/36 quarter
      • Prior to 3rd - 48 semester/72 quarter
      • Prior to 4th - 72 semester/108 quarter

 

Domestic Transfers (Additional Requirements)

  • Must provide academic records from all previous institutions attended
  • International students (outside of US & CAN) must register InCred for secondary school (HS) transcript evaluation.
    • Basic HS Evaluation Cost - $95


International Transfers (Additional Requirements)

  • Must provide academic records in English and Native Language (if applicable) to InCred for transcript evaluation
  • InCred International Post Secondary Evaluation Cost - $190
