Costello Guyton joined the FMU family in the Spring of 2022 as the Offensive Line Coach before being additionally tasked with the responsibility as the Run-Game Coordinator in 2023.
Guyton is a Miami native, who upon completing his service in the United States Army (serving in Berlin, Germany) and 30 years of service as a law enforcement officer (Miami-Dade County), showcased his coaching prowess for over two decades instructing, mentoring and leading powerhouse high school football programs in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. These teams included Miami-Edison High, Miami Jackson High, Miami Carol City High (2016 6A State Champion), Hallandale High and Miramar High (2009 6A State Champion, 2011 6A Runner-Up Champion).
He has been blessed to mentor and coach several NFL alumni and current offensive linemen, i.e., Marc Dile (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Richard Clebert (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Trevon Coley (Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens), Brandon Washington (Philadelphia Eagles, LA Rams) and Yodny Cajuste (New England Patriots, New York Jets).
In his first season with the FMU Lions, Coach Guyton has demonstrated the ability to effectively recruit student-athletes locally and nationally from Jacksonville, Florida; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Terrell, Texas; Savannah, Georgia, etc..
He has a well-documented history for mentoring, developing and elevating the performance of freshmen offensive linemen as well as returning upper classmen, to wit…Junior Justyn Mack was selected to 2nd Team (NAIA) All-Conference this most recent campaign (2022).
