Coach Sherman Gant

Sherman Gant

Coach Sherman Gant enters his first season with the FMU Lions as an assistant men's basketball coach.

Prior to joining the Lions, Gant spent four years as an assistant boy’s basketball coach for TEAM Englewood Community Academy High School in Chicago, Ill. While on the coaching staff, the team compiled a 62-26 record. Gant played a pivotal role in helping the Eagles to three consecutive conference championships from 2009-2013 and back-to-back IHSA Class 2A regional championship appearances.

Gant currently serves as president and head coach for Team Strive Elite Academy Inc., a skill development company and AAU Basketball program based in North Miami, FL. His player development skills are evident in the student-athletes that have grown from Gant's tutelage.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Gant graduated from North Park University (’09) with a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. He graduated in spring (’14) with a masters of business administration with a concentration in management. 

He previously played basketball at Curie High School under Mike Oliver before graduating in 2002.
