Jazmine Washington

Jazmine Washington joined the FMU family as head volleyball and beach volleyball coach in April of 2022.

Washington comes to FMU from Philander Smith College (Ark.), her alma mater, where she spent two seasons as the head volleyball coach. In two seasons, "Coach Jazz" amassed a 28-20 record leading the Panthers – including a .800 win percentage at home – and earned the 2021 Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) Coach of the Year Award.

She also led PSC to a runner-up finish in the 2021 GCAC Championship Tournament.

Prior to her time at Philander Smith, Washington spent one season as head volleyball coach at Paul Quinn College (Tex.) while also working as the head women's volleyball coach of the Texas All-Stars Volleyball Club.

Before getting into coaching, Washington enjoyed a successful preps and collegiate playing career. A 6-foot-2 middle blocker, Washington graduated from Duncanville High School (Tex.), where she earned a volleyball scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University (Fla.). She later transferred to Philander Smith College and was awarded First Team All-Conference honors in 2017 and Second Team honors in 2018 and ultimately graduated with her bachelor's in business administration.

In 2022, Coach Washington's outside hitter Caroline Souza was named Sun Conference player of the year.

She also played in the Texas Sand Volleyball League prior to her retirement from playing.
