Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team got their third conference win of the season against Warner University 60-50.With the win, The Lady Lions stands at 3-3 in conference play.
In the first half, Florida Memorial and Warner exchanged basketball for the first seven minutes of the game Warner was able to make a run and stretch its lead to 4 points 19-15, But Florida Memorial were able to regroup and cut the lead to 2 heading in the half 29-27.
In the second half, The Lady Lions came out of the locker room on fire; Florida Memorial went on a 29-9 run. With FMU leading as much as 11 points, with less than 5 minutes to go, Warner made a run and was able to cut the lead to 8 points but the Lady Lions came back with a roar and made baskets down the stretch to win the game 60-50. Florida Memorial out-shot Warner 36 to 35 percent, while out-rebounding their opponent 37-24 margin. The Lady Lions shot 80% from the three point line, while holding their opponent to 80% shooting from the three point line.
Danielle Bailey led the Lady Lions with 14 points, 4-8 FG shooting (2-2 free throw shooting) and grabbed 3 rebounds. Andrisia Sweeting poured in 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds, while Ashley Henry &
Abreona Cabell contributed 9 points each.
The Lady Lions return to the court Thursday night (Jan. 19th) when they host to Ave Maria University for a 7:00 p.m. tip off.
